An American Christmas

So it’s that time of year again. The time of year when all your attention turns to yourself. Time to make that list of useless shit that you don’t need but for some reason have an overwhelming desire to have. Time to start strategizing (thanks, Mr. President) on how you can buy everyone a gift and not make it look like you bought their present at the local dollar store. Remember, it’s not about making someone happy by giving them a gift that could make their day to day lives easier, it’s about buying the most for the least. You need to save that money for all those post-Christmas sales.

This is it. This is why you work that job that you hate. This is why you never enjoy a full day out of the year. Got to put in that overtime or work that second job to have enough money to buy all that useless shit.

Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need… - Tyler Durden

You think I’m fucking weird for quoting a character from a movie? Have you ever seen Fight Club? That movie is fucking brilliant.

You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. - Tyler Durden

Take a look in the mirror sometime. Open your eyes. You think this country was charged up enough to go out and vote in record numbers because of a sudden swell in morality? Fuck you. This country hasn’t given a flying fuck about the millions of people who are slaughtered each year in wars throughout the world. Nope. Don’t give a fuck. No swell of morality here.

You know what drove your self-centered ass to do something this year? The fear that maybe, just maybe this whole “economic collapse” might just affect you somehow.

So go ahead and put on that six dollar walmart sweater and host your dinner parties singing songs about peace on earth and goodwill towards man you hypocritical son of a bitch. And if you can find it in your busy self-serving schedule to take a break think about the family of the man who was killed in New York today when a crowd of sweater wearing peace on earth singing customers tore the doors off of the building and rushed inside.

This man was trampled to death by people rushing to buy shit they didn’t need…

God Tries To Kill 3-year Old Girl, Foiled By Cousin From Iowa

Alaina Pitton

Alaina Pitton

Ok, this is just unreal.  http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=6245683

Alaina Pitton stumbled through a fence that ran along a 150-foot cliff.

The family had stopped to snap a photo in Oregon’s Ecola State Park when, to the shock and fear of her mother, the toddler fell backwards through a wide opening in the fence.

“We were going to take a picture of the girls when they were standing against the railing,” said Alaina’s mother Charlotte Pitton. “Alaina just kind of stepped back.”

“If she would have stood back up,” Pitton said, “she would have been gone.”

But acting quickly, cousin Craig Wulfekuhle managed to grab the child before she fell down the cliff.

“Craig, our cousin from Iowa, had started to jump over the fence before Alaina finished falling,” Pitton said.

“It was so, so, so scary,” Alaina said. “I was shaking. My tummy was shaking. My head was shaking. My arms were shaking, my legs and my feet too.”

Pitton was relieved that her daughter suffered no serious injuries.

“After I got Alaina and she was crying and I was crying — I almost passed out,” Pitton said.

* “I was just thanking God,” she added. “It could have been her time, and he chose it wasn’t her time.”

Pitton said she has nothing but thanks and admiration for Wulfekuhle.

“Craig is the guardian angel. He really did save her life,” Pitton said. “It was truly a miracle and a blessing that he reacted so quickly.”

The first thing that went through my mind was “Why the fuck did you let three little girls get close enough to cliff that the potential for them falling off was very very real?”

My wife and I live a very open, tolerant, liberal life style. We allow our girls to do pretty much whatever they want. However the one issue with which we are not so care free is in the protection of our children. I don’t want to sit here and rip this mother apart after what she went through but I’m going to anyways.

First off, why were you not holding her hand? If you wanted a picture so bad why was there not an adult with them to hold there hands? Our daughters know to be constantly aware of their environment and to quickly examine their surrounding and analyze any potential dangers in the area.

They are very very street wise if you will. They know not to cross streets, not to open doors for people they don’t know, not to talk to people they don’t know, to hold our hands at all time once we get out of the car.

When we are outside of our house and yard they ALWAYS hold our hands until we enter whatever location we traveled to. They are NEVER out of our sight, not even for one second. As I’ve said many times before on this blog, life is short. The world, nature, is always trying to kill you. You must remain on guard and vigilant at all times.

You let your guard down just a little and what almost happened to Alaina Pitton could happen to anyone. Could you imagine the pain and guilt you would feel if your child died because you were too lazy to be cautious of your environment and to take the necessary precautions to ensure safety.

Thankfully Alaina Pitton’s  great-cousin (?) was there to save her life.

* And to Charlotte Pitton: God did not choose not to take her. Your carelessness with regards to your child’s safety almost took her. I hope this incident wakes you up. Never take life for granted. Never take your or your child’s safety for granted.

Does the Human Soul Exist?

» by Trey in: Randoms

Common perception is that when a person dies their soul leaves their body. Now there are various interpretations on what is considered the exact moment of death.  Some consider death to occur when your heat stops beating. Some consider death to occur when the electrical activity in your brain ceases.

If your soul leaves when your heart stops beating then how does it return to the body in cases of a person being “dead” for minutes only to be revived and live? Is their a limbo it goes into?

If your soul leaves when the electrical activity in your brain ceases then our soul leaves our body every night.

Even by whole-brain criteria, the determination of brain death can be complicated. EEGs can detect spurious electrical impulses, while certain drugshypoglycemiahypoxia, or hypothermia can suppress or even stop brain activity on a temporary basis. Because of this, hospitals have protocols for determining brain death involving EEGs at widely separated intervals under defined conditions.

So if it does it exist at what point does it decide that the current host body is no longer suitable and leaves?

If it doesn’t exist how do we explain our self-awareness, our consciousness, our spirit, ghosts etc.?

What do you think?
